Taro karahi


Arvi karahi is very delcious curry .Before talk about recipe i must say some benefits of Arvi.Arvi is basically a urdu word its is known as 'colocasia",and "Taro".Taro is a root vagetable that contain numrous health nutrients like potassium,and high amount of carbohydrates, iron , Vitamin A , vitamin B6, vitamin E , maganese, fibre and phosphorus.It also known for its antioxident property.

Altough Taro leaf and roots are healthy but raw taro or arvi roots is toxic due to calcuim oxalate content that can be reduced by cookin or drain in cold water over night.Here  I am going to share, How to cook taro roots?πŸ™‚And this recipe is amazingly delicious . Lets see which ingredient need to cook arvi  or taro karahi.

Ingredients...


  • Arvi Or Taro       1 kg
  • Onion(chopped)       250 gram
  • Ginger & garlic chopped   50gram
  • Fresh coriander leaves   20 gram 
  • Green chilli       3 or 4 meduim size
  • Tomato (chopped)   250 gram
  • Yougart  250 grams
  • Black paper    1/2 teaspoon
  • Zeera (cumin seeds      1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt     1 1/2 tablespoon
  • Red chilli powder  1 1/2 tablespoon
  • Turmeric      1/2 tablespoon
  • Oil     250 grams 
  • Water 
Method....


  1. Peel taro care fully  wash and cut it into meduim size pieces.
  2. Put the pot on stove when pot getting hot put almost half kg oil into it and when oil get heat put taro and fry till light brown .
  3. Put another stove and add  oil ,chopped onion and garlic and ginger and fry until its colour getting light brown then add tomato yougart ,black paper cumin seeds and cook for 3 to 5 minuts and add about half glass of water.
  4. Put and stove out of the stove and and mix the paste by using grinder or mixer machine.
  5. When past mix well put pot it on the stove and cook 5 minuts.
  6. Add fried taro and let it on low flam about 6 to seven minuts.
  7. Add chopped green chilli and coriander leaves and mix and cover the pot.
Now Arvi karahi is ready to serve with wheat bread .
